FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Williams Lake, BC

We exist to glorify and enjoy Him... forever!

COVENANT

The following Church covenant is presented as representative of the spirit in which we join together as a Church.

It is not a covenant of legalism but of liberty in Christ.

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to repent of our sin and put our trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit as the outward symbol of the inward spiritual reality which has taken place in our hearts, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully covenant ourselves together as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the gracious working of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive together for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge, holiness, and joy; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to help sustain its true worship of God, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and private devotions; to educate our children in the true knowledge of Jesus Christ; to earnestly seek the salvation of our relatives and acquaintances; to conduct ourselves circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our behaviour; to avoid all gossip, back-biting, and excessive anger; to abstain from gambling, the use of destructive drugs, drunkenness, and all forms of sexual immorality; to practice genuine repentance toward all known sin in our lives; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, and always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

Moreover, we engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other Church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of Gods Word.
